Minister, Foreign Affairs, Nigeria.

The visit was aimed to inform the Honourable Minister, Foreign Affairs of PASAE-NIAE 2020 International Conference. It is a major International Event that concerns the Image of Nigeria. And the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is too strategic to the successful hosting of this major event.

The Resident Chair, COC briefed the Hon. Minister on the purpose and reason for the visit based on the talk point below:

  • To inform the Honourable Minister, Foreign Affairs of PASAE-NIAE 2020 International Conference. It is a major International Event that concerns the Image of Nigeria. And the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is too strategic to the successful hosting of this major event.
  • The Central Organizing Committee desire to bring to the barest minimum Protocol Errors in the handling of International Delegates to PASAE-NIAE 2020 International Conference. This is the first time NIAE is handling a Conference of this magnitude within the bothers of our land. We have attended International Conferences outside the country but the detail of what is involved in putting such event together will require the input of your office and by extension the input of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
  • To inform the Hon. Minister, Foreign affairs that PASAE President, Prof Linus Okpara is securing the attendance of Mr Paul Kagame, President Republic of Rwanda. And we are certain about the route of communication through the Hon. Minister’s office. So we felt compelled to give the Hon. Minister advance information on this matter.
  • The purpose of this visit is also to seek special approval for VISA ON ARRIVAL for the Visiting Delegates.  This arrangement will also demand to work closely with the Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs most especially with respect to the list of such delegates.

Finally, the Hon. Minister may also wish to use his good office to assist the COC in lessening or alleviating its huge financial commitment to this International Conference. Such support can be in cash or kind in case the Hon. Minster wishes to consider our request. The release of your Good-Will for the benefit of NIAE will be highly appreciated.

The Hon. Minister who received the COC into his office responded to the Resident Chair’s brief as follows:
👉 Conferences of this kind i.e. PASAE-NIAE 2020 International Conference is like ” “bread and butter” to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is familiar terrain for the Ministry.

👉 The Hon. Minister acknowledged that this is one of the ways to marketing Nigeria to the outside world. He said such Conferences often rub heavily on the image of the Nation.

👉 As a Ministry, we will be very very happy to work with the COC.

👉 The Ministry will second a desk officer to assist the Conference Secretariat when the time approaches.

Prof Peter Onwualu while responding to the Hon. Minister said that though the Minister’s area of expertise is in foreign relation yet his great interest and enlightenment in Agricultural practices is highly commendable.
